2020 Census events at Lodi Public Library

In just a few months the U.S. Census will officially begin, and the City of Lodi and the Lodi Public Library will be hosting two events to learn more about the process and how you can encourage participation. You’re invited to join Cheryl Frye, a 2020 Census Partnership Specialist, on Tuesday, February 25, 2:00 pm, and Thursday, March 5, 6:30 pm, at the Lodi Public Library.

Since 1790, the Census has happened every 10 years as mandated by the U.S. Constitution. The population figures generated are used for everything from reapportioning congressional seats, redistricting, and distributing billions of dollars to local communities. The 2020 data will be used for (just to list a few): planning for medical care and nursing home facilities; designing public safety strategies; drawing school district boundaries; making business decisions; planning urban and land use; and distributing funding for government programs. The Census data is critical for all of us, and we want everyone in the Lodi community to be counted.

Please mark your calendars and plan to attend on one of these programs. Your participation in, and support of the 2020 Census is a great investment in our community!
